Ford Focus Electric
Perhaps this vehicle could be called Ford's forgotten electric car with it having been somewhat superseded by the Ford Mustang Mach-E but the Ford Focus Electric was Ford’s first electric production model.
The car’s 143bhp electric motor was connected to two batteries affording a range of around 100 miles on a full charge and taking the car from 0-62mph in 11 seconds. A cable for charging from a normal household socket was included with the car, but a high-voltage version for use with 32A public charging points was also available for an extra cost.
Inside, the Focus Electric came with a high-spec Titanium trim level including part-leather seats, Sony DAB digital radio, sat-nav and cruise control.
Other standard equipment included keyless entry, electric mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and automatic headlights. Rear parking sensors were an optional extra.
Even at speeds of up to 85mph Ford claimed the car remains virtually silent with the exception of any wind and road noise.
